The Playboy is a story about adolescence. It is biographical. It is clinically honest. It will make you cringe. But it is thoroughly authentic. And if you read this in sequence with his two other autobiographical graphic novels, "I Never Liked You" and "Paying for It", it also, in my opinion, serves as a kind of cautionary tale against the cauterizing effects of pornography.
